Khulna police make list of troublemakers

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has finalised a list of 32 students of three academic institutions, identifying them as troublemakers on the campuses.Of them, ten are from Khulna Medical College, 12 from Daulatpur Government BL University College, and the rest from Khulna Polytechnic institute.KMP Deputy Commissioner Mostafa Kamal said process is on to identify more students who are vitiating peaceful atmosphere at the educational institutions. The second phase of such list will be completed in a week, he added.He said no troublemaker will be spared and appropriate legal action will be taken against them.According to a source in the Special Branch of KMP, the troublemakers belonging to Chatra League, Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir are also on the list.The list has been prepared very carefully in consultation with general students, said Assistant Police Commissioner of City SB Md Moniruzzaman.Apart from these three educational institutions, a separate list of students, who recently created unrest on the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) campus, will be made, KMP sources said. Similar list of teachers, who helped the troublemakers on the campuses under political influence and instigate violence, will also be made, said DC Shahadat Hossain.The lists will be sent to the police stations concerned for maintaining official record, he said.When contacted, principal of Khulna Medical College Hospital and registrar of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology said they are not aware of preparation of such list by the law enforcers.The law enforcers are doing their duties for maintaining peaceful atmosphere in cooperation with the authorities of these academic institutions where violence erupted recently, they said.The principal of Daulatpur Government BL University College and the Principal of Khulna Polytechnic Institute could not be reached over phone despite several attempts for their comment. Meanwhile, KMP will soon launch a drive against the criminals. The updated list of criminals has been made recently checking and rechecking their backgrounds, sources said.
